Breezy BasiX with Attendant Drum Brakes

The Breezy BasiX with Attendant Drum Brakes is a manual wheelchair from Sunrise Medical's Breezy BasiX range, fitted with attendant-operated drum brakes for added control when the chair is being pushed rather than self-propelled. The BasiX platform is a lightweight, stylish aluminium-framed chair with a total weight of around 15kg and a maximum user weight of approximately 125kg, offering seat width adjustment from roughly 38cm to 52cm and seat depth from 41cm to 46cm, so it can be configured to fit a range of body sizes. Seat height is adjustable from about 42.5cm to 50.5cm, and the backrest angle can be set between 10° and 16° to suit different postural preferences. Flip-back armrests make side transfers easier for users and carers, while the tension-adjustable backrest allows the amount of support to be fine-tuned rather than fixed. The attendant drum brakes, operated from the push handles, give the person pushing the chair reliable, progressive control on ramps, slopes and uneven surfaces — an important safety feature in facilities or homes with inclines, where relying on wheel-lock brakes alone may not be sufficient. Anti-tip wheels and a swing-away legrest add further safety and convenience. This configuration is well suited to users who are mostly or entirely attendant-propelled, and to care environments where staff need dependable braking control while manoeuvring residents around varied terrain.
