Invacare Comet Ultra

The Invacare Comet Ultra is a bariatric mobility scooter engineered specifically for larger users who need both a higher weight capacity and genuine outdoor durability. It carries a safe working load of 220kg thanks to a reinforced seat column and heavy-duty chassis, while still delivering the ride comfort of Invacare's Comet range through an upgraded, heavy-duty 4-point suspension system and 13-inch pneumatic tyres that handle uneven paths and kerbs with less jarring than a standard scooter. The seat itself is a genuine bariatric size at roughly 26 inches wide, and it reclines and swivels for easier transfers, with pneumatically adjustable lumbar support to help larger users maintain comfortable posture over longer trips. Armrests are height- and width-adjustable and reinforced to match the scooter's higher capacity. Like other models in the Comet line, the Ultra includes an electronic speed reduction system that automatically slows the scooter when cornering, reducing tip risk for a heavier, wider vehicle. Performance figures sit at a top speed of around 10km/h with a driving range of up to 49km per charge, giving enough range for regular outdoor use around a suburb or town centre. With an overall length of about 145cm, a turning radius of roughly 275cm, and an unladen weight of around 148kg, the Comet Ultra is a substantial machine, but one purpose-built to give bariatric users the same freedom and outdoor capability as a standard-size scooter.
