The REVI Cougar brings retro scrambler-moped styling to an electric bike, built around a low-slung step-over frame, wide 20 x 4-inch fat tires, and full front-and-rear suspension. A vinyl bench-style seat, round LED headlight, and leather-look grips give it the look of a vintage mini-moto rather than a conventional bicycle, and it's available in Sand or Black. A central display and throttle let you ride on motor power alone or add pedal input when you want it. A 750W rear hub motor (1000W peak) paired with a removable 52V 20Ah lithium-ion battery is considerably more powerful than a standard pedal-assist commuter e-bike, capable of a top speed of around 55km/h and a realistic range of 55-70km per charge depending on rider weight, throttle use, and terrain — lower than the 128km the manufacturer quotes under ideal lab conditions. Hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power that higher speed demands, and the fat tires give stable grip on gravel, sand, and uneven suburban roads alike. Rated to a 150kg total rider and cargo weight capacity, the Cougar suits confident riders who want a fun, head-turning commuter with genuine moped-like performance rather than a leisurely pedal-assist cruiser. Because of its motor power and top speed, the Cougar falls outside the 250W / 25km/h threshold South Africa treats as an ordinary bicycle under the National Road Traffic Act. Riding it on public roads may require registration, a number plate, and a valid rider's licence, similar to a moped — check current NRCS and local traffic authority requirements before riding on public roads. Always wear an appropriate helmet.
